In "new"splendor at the Opera Ball

"Alles Walzer" has returned at last! After a two-year hiatus, the most dazzling night of the nights is back at the Vienna State Opera Ball. A staple of the Habsburg era, ‘Alles Walzer’ has provided endless joy and merriment as an exceptionally prominent event that attracts numerous domestic and foreign visitors. The right gown makes the night, of course, especially considering Walzer’s dress code is a rather strict one. Gentlemen have it quite easy: no entrance without a waistcoat. Ladies, on the other hand, are required to wear an evening gown for this elegant event. And so, begins the annual dilemma: what to wear? ANNA has also asked herself this question, even months before the Opera Ball kicks off.

However, simply choosing the right attire doesn’t suddenly solve everything. After all, the evening revolves around the entire look and not just the right dress.
A mani-pedi, hydrating facial and exfoliating scrub, fitness regimen, and crash course in dance have all most certainly taken place well in advance.

But with all that taken care of, the dress still brings the whole look together. So, ANNA had a clear idea as to how her dress would accentuate the positive: elegant, comfortable, but above all – original.

The word ‘original’ finally led her to a radical decision.

ANNA decided to reimagine an existing dress in her wardrobe. ANNA had the perfect fabric in mind and conceived a vision in her imagination. She had always loved creating custom clothing with her personal touch: to ‘ANNAlyze’, as she likes to call it.

ANNA had already worn the dress in question to the Opera Ball in 2018, but it was time to breathe new life into this extraordinary piece. A far more dramatic and dare we say, pompous silhouette was created by altering the dress’ back significantly. Its contrast of black and beige gave the dress a particular touch of elegance.

On the evening of the ball, the seamstress checked once more to determine this gown offered the perfect fit. ANNA’s long-time confidante gave her hairstyle a once over, put the finishing touches on her makeup, and ensure that her entire look was absolutely perfect.

Now, what is a ballgown without the right jewelry to complement it? ANNA paid special attention to the perfect pieces necessary for this glamorous occasion. Three earrings boasting an alluring serpentine shape adorned with numerous and dazzling white diamonds in varying sizes really gave the dress that added pop needed for such a special event.

ANNA is a great lover of Austrian ball culture. Especially at the opera ball, people celebrate for generations and, as in a fairy tale, beautiful robes are shown. A visit to the Opera Ball revives the beauty and elegance of Imperial Vienna.
Here are a few tips that ANNA would like to give you for your next ball visit:

Choose comfortable shoes, with not too high heels - after all, you will be on your feet for a long time.
Maybe don't choose your favorite designer shoes. There is often a lot of crowding at balls and it can happen that someone steps on your shoes.
Make all your appointments for manicure, make-up and the hairdresser early enough.
At the ball you should feel comfortable and have fun. Choose a dress, jewelry, hairstyle and make-up to your taste - you should not feel disguised.

And very important: when preparing for the big evening, you should not forget to drink a glass (or two) of champagne.
