ANNA'S MUNICH

Your Insider City Guide

Munich is a city where tradition and modernity blend seamlessly. Our founder and creative visionary, Anna, frequently visits our Munich ANNA stores and therefore knows the city's best spots. In our exclusive City Guide, she shares her favorite corners, hidden gems, and essential tips to make every visit to Munich unforgettable. Discover Anna’s personal highlights in the Bavarian capital.

Anna, how would you describe Munich in your own words?

ANNA: For me, Munich is a city full of warmth, beauty, and authenticity. It impresses not only with its unique architecture and historic charm but also with the wonderful people. It’s a city that I hold very close to my heart.

What inspires you most about Munich?

ANNA: What inspires me most about Munich are definitely the people. They are just different - living by the motto ‘Escape the ordinary.’ Of course, I’m also fascinated by the city's beautiful architecture and picturesque gardens. But it’s truly the people who make Munich so unique, filling it with a special vitality.

What are your favorite cafés or restaurants in Munich for a creative break?

ANNA: For breakfast, I highly recommend the new Rosewood Hotel; I always stay here when I'm in Munich. From the Spa to the Cuisine - everything is perfect, making it an ideal retreat in the heart of the city. Otherwise, I also love going to "Kull" - my absolute restaurant tip and a place that never ceases to amaze me. My favorite dish is the Hokkaido pumpkin, grilled with honey and thyme, served with a warm lentil salad on truffle cream. Mmmh, it’s so incredibly delicious! And of course, “Schumann’s Bar” is a must. The bar has an elegant, minimalist design without any frills, which makes it particularly appealing to a wide audience - and that’s what I find especially fascinating. It’s a timeless classic that I always love visiting.

If you only had one day in Munich, which places would you definitely visit?

ANNA: If I had only one day in Munich, the English Garden and Maximilianstraße would definitely be on my list. The English Garden offers a beautiful mix of nature and relaxation, perfect for a walk or simply enjoying the city's atmosphere. Maximilianstraße is, of course, a shopping dream, especially because one of our two ANNA stores is located there. ;-) And I can’t forget a very special gem! For our fashion and home designs, I spend a lot of time exploring fabrics and different materials. One store that fascinates me with its long history and unique expertise is "Johanna Daimer." This charming shop in the heart of Munich offers an impressive selection of all kinds of felt. It may be something special, but for lovers of high-quality materials, it’s an absolute insider tip!

What gives the Munich ANNA Stores their special charm for you?

ANNA: Both ANNA Stores in Munich each have their own unique charm. The store on Maximilianstraße is our newest one. I poured my heart into its construction and was deeply passionate about it. It’s spacious and offers an impressive atmosphere, carried by the enthusiasm and dedication of the wonderful team. The store at Sebastiansplatz, on the other hand, radiates a special warmth. It has a long history, as it was our first store outside of Austria, and we grew beyond borders with it. Personally, it is also associated with a lot of humanity and kindness. It’s a place I always love returning to because it exudes a very special energy.
