1. Use a mild detergent suitable for cashmere. Anna’s favorite is the Tenemoll wool detergent, which is especially gentle on delicate fibers.
2. Wash only 1–2 garments at a time. Cashmere is delicate and can lose its structure if it stays damp for too long. Another reason Anna prefers washing only a few pieces at once is that it feels less like a chore and is simply more enjoyable.
3. Check the garment carefully for stains. These can attract moths and loosen the fibers, which can lead to threads, pilling or unraveling seams. Prepare a clean sink in which to wash your garment.
4. Use lukewarm or cold water. Submerge your garment completely. Since it shouldn't be scrubbed or wrung out, it’s important to let the water flow gently through the fibers. Once the water runs clear, carefully remove the garment and place it in the washing machine.
5. Select the "Drain and Spin" program. Anna opts for a spin cycle of 1600 revolutions per minute. It should be noted that the general recommendation is 800 rpm. Run the cycle twice to gently remove excess water.
6. Prepare three towels. Lege eines auf eine flache Oberfläche, wie z.B. einen Tisch.
7. Place the garment on the towel. Place the second towel inside the garment and then cover it with a third towel to quickly absorb the moisture. Finally, gently smooth it into shape with your flat hand.
